Workshop: Lithomancy

Sunday, October 25th 3-6pm
Cost: $40
43 Westminster, Montreal West (near Sherbrooke West)

Lithomancy is divination using gemstones.

There are several ways to do divination with stones. Some use a wheel with the Astrological Houses; some use a wheel with the months; some use a large ring for the circles of one's life; and some use positioning like you would see in a tarot spread.

All are intuitive. They start with understanding the keyword meanings of at least 13 stones. We will look at about 25-30 stones as options. Bring your own collection of stones, if you have one.

We will explore the various methods of reading the stones and engage in actual practice.

Everyone will leave with one stone divinely chosen for them.

Just in time for Samhain!

Workshop: Rites of Passage

Sunday, October 18th, 3-5pm
Cost: $25 (+$15 for bonus hour instruction)

43 Westminster 3rd floor, Montreal West (close to Sherbrooke West)

Rites of Passage are rituals marking moments in our lives where our lives go thru a transformation. There are several kind of rites of passage: life cycle changes, secular changes, religious vocational changes.

Develop an appreciation for personal rites of passage and those of other cultures and religions, namely Wicca . Understand and explain Arnold Van Gennep’s and Victor Turner’s stages of Rites of Passage as illustrated through examples from the students’ own personal experiences. Compare and contrast rites to see if they fit the three-stage model, then interpret, discuss, debate experiences and ideas about rites, categorize them as religious or secular.

Lastly, consider how to create a rite of passage, how to design the ritual for marking the transformation in someone's life.

BONUS HOUR INSTRUCTION
Detailed instruction on designing a self-dedication ritual, or dedication of others. (If all students present are already dedicated and plan on initiation rites within their group, then we will discuss how to create an initiation rite instead of a dedication rite.)

Workshop: Simple Rites & Rituals

Simple Rites & Rituals (Cost $40)
Sunday, October 11th, 3-6pm
43 Westminster 3rd floor, Montreal West (close to Sherbrooke West)

What is the basic structure of a ritual? Did you know that all the smaller aspects (structures) of a ritual are called rites? What is critical for anyone practicing magic and Paganism to know?

These start with the rites of Cleansing, Purifying, Blessing, Consecrating, Dedicating, and Protecting. We will discuss the details of each of these rites and the various ways of performing them.

Rituals are performed in Sacred Space (which uses these rites. Rituals use tools, which are dedicated through these rites. People are prepared for ritual using these rites.

Ritual beyond that is a sandwich of other simple rites: Circle Casting, Invoking Elements, Invoking Divine, Performance of Ritual Purpose, Communing with Divine, then reversing the rites through the thanking and dismissal of the energies.

Open a whole new world of understanding ritual to improve your esbats, sabbats, spells, and more.
